Manual therapy can be defined as a clinical approach utilizing skilled, specific hands on techniques, including but not limited to manipulation/mobilization by the physical therapist to diagnose and treat soft tissue and joint structures.
The purpose of manual therapy is to reduce pain, increase range of motion, reduce or eliminate inflammation, stimulate tissue repair and improve soft tissue extensibility ultimately restoring healthy function.
